Hi everyone I’m Alex Gomes, I’m a music producer & storyteller.
Welcome to the With Gomes Productions website. I put a lot of hard work into creating this new website and I’m proud of how far it has come. This is I and the site’s first post. In this post I’m going to introduce myself and at the end talk a little about what WGP (With Gomes Productions) is about. Let’s get right to it.
Childhood & Creativity
I was born in Providence, Rhode Island, raised by a single mother. Growing up I was very close with my mother: a huge mama’s boy. I was also very shy.
For long as I could remember my mind was always filled with this creativity need and urges to express and create stories, concepts and worlds. It was a big way for me to escape some the troubles I had in school and life in general. Some of the troubles included not being able to focus in class, shyness, speech problems (stuttering) and confidence issues. I would write short stories, imagine stories, and create make-believe games.
My mind was constantly beaming with a need to imagine and create. It wouldn’t be till I got older to where I would be able to control this energy to hone my creativity abilities and focus my creative ideas.
Finding My Passion
As I got older my speech problems for the most part went away, I was better at connecting with people and I got more confident. The point in my life that was truly a turning point for me was when I discovered dance (was inspired by a person I used to be very close with and Step Up 2: The Streets).
Up until I found dance, there was a empty feeling inside of me that could only go away if I was being creative. In my early teenage years I was able to combat this feeling by creating a role-playing video game on the Enterbrain computer program called RPG Maker. But I soon realized that this was more of a form of escapism for me that I enjoyed because of my innate need to create, imagine, tell stories and evoke feeling. The most fun part of working on the RPG was creating the scenes that involved a lot of storytelling and the music that helped create the momentum and mood of the scene.
After I grew out of that phase, I soon realized I needed something that I could create that would put me out there more, give people more value, push my creative abilities, and allow me to share my creativity work with people and finding dance was just what I needed.
As I improved I decided to post some videos of my dance and I soon grew to love video production. As I kept growing in dance, my love of music grew as well and I found myself interested in how people make music and why it evokes and inspire such amazing moments and feelings in people. I found a way to fulfill my creative desires by creating and expressing ideas and stories with movement, visuals and sound.
Living The Moment & The Goals
As my creative ambitions grew so has my passion for life and my business. I’m excited about every moment I invest in making With Gomes Productions a monster that can help and collaborate with people to use media and art to inspire, tell a story, make a statement, express an idea or concept and push the boundaries of creative art.
On this site you’ll find music, videos (dance videos and soon to include short cinematic films), blog posts, media products and an outlet to explore creativity and the arts. I want to welcome you again to With Gomes Productions.com. This is start of something beautiful and I look forward to sharing and connecting with everyone on here.
